THE HUSTLE, YOU SAY!
I’ve always been a bit of a hustler. Yep, always. I’m a content creator. Negotiator. Facilitator. Producer. I stir things up and help people go from idea batter to ‘have your cake and eat it too’.
4 years ago, I thought that pregnancy would change that. But my bump just seemed to give me even more of an edge. And that’s when The Bump & Hustle was born.
I thought I’d write solely about the head-on collision that is motherhood and entrepreneurship but B&H became my own little lifestyle blog, where ‘lifestyle’ was determined by the humour, discovered how-tos, and ups and downs of running a business and raising a kid. Or vice versa.
What I didn’t know was that it would bring me in touch with a group of amazing, like-minded, equally delirious, entrepreninjas, all looking to balance parenting with production, or just looking to keep their identities amidst all the interruptions that life offers.
I also had no clue (what blogger really does) that the arc of my story or the blog’s story would change and shift so many times and in so many ways since its start.
I have been through so many different things and met so many people along the way.
This community of friends has seen me through some big moments in my life — has grown as I’ve grown. They’re lovely geeks, nerds, collectors, designers, foodies, lovers, fighters, business owners, independent contractors, creatives, parents and future parents who feel the bittersweet teetering of the minute hand urging them to be in 2 places at once.
They’re moms and dads who glance at the wall yearning for a replicator to materialize so that dinner doesn’t have to be made. They’re uncles and aunts who pounce on all important firsts like their nephews and nieces’ first Star Wars screening; their first Halloween costume; their first Comicon.
They’re friends who’ve chosen a kid-free lifestyle and they’re friends who have been trying for years.
Some have fur babies. Some just have Tumblr accounts and follow other people’s fur babies.
But we’re all family.
And we all love telling the story that is our life, right now.
Whether we’re sharing it here at B&H, on FB, Instagram, or Twitter, it’s the context of reaching out and getting a genuine connection that frames all our content, and draws in our fun community.
Whatever we talk about, it’s all par for the course.
And the course might get a little bumpy.
I’m actually ok with that, because that’s when things start to get fun.
And that’s when the hustle shines through the most.
Welcome — and enjoy!
